Women Marshal Bicycle Training

On the occasion of World Bicycle Day, Cycle City Network Nepal provided bicycle mechanic training to the female marshals who had previously participated in the Training of Trainers Program, with support from the USAID Clean Air Project.

Three mechanical professionals assisted a total of twelve participants in the bicycle mechanics course. The two-hour intensive course covered essential bicycle maintenance skills, including tire adjustments, air pressure management, puncture repair, chain lubrication, and brake cleaning. By equipping these women with practical mechanical skills, the training aims to empower them to maintain their bicycles efficiently in their daily lives, ensuring their rides are always smooth and safe.

During the hands-on mechanical training provided to the women bicycle trainers, participants were equipped with essential tools, including a multi-tool kit, toothbrush, puncture glue/khaski, patches, a portable pump, chain lube, brake/gear cables, brake pads, and a clean cloth.

The training covered a comprehensive range of bicycle maintenance and repair skills. Trainers learned the proper techniques for bike fitting and packing, how to fill tires with both Presta and Schrader valves, and the process of repairing punctures. They were also taught how to fix brakes, tune and maintain gears, clean and lubricate the chain, and thoroughly clean the bike.

This practical instruction aimed to empower the trainers with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure the bicycles remain in optimal condition and to address any mechanical issues that arise.
